Five STARS Disciple of Liberty Grove UMC

The idea is to identify and commit to something in each of the five areas, so that your faith will grow and you will become a more committed follower of Jesus. Aim for doing one thing at least in every one of the five star areas this year. We will sponsor many events to help you fill your list.


S          Serving

  • Go on a Missions Trip, Kairos ministry, etc
  • Work on an occasional project in the community, Volunteer within the neighborhood (regular, weekly)
  • Use your talents on events in the church, Drive through nativity, suppers, (occasional)
  • Be a greeter, usher, church care committee, etc. (Occasional)
  • Sing in the choir, teach Sunday School, help counsel the youth group, etc. serve on a committee (regular)


T          Training

  • Participate in a Sunday School class
  • Participate in a Bible Study
  • Go on an Emmaus Walk or similar retreat
  • Read a book or two to develop your faith & understanding
  • Enroll in a class where the training will help the church


A          Adoring

  • Increase the number of Sundays you worship each year (1 more time each month than last year)
  • Begin daily devotionals, quiet time for personal worship during the week
  • Read a book or two on worship or prayer or join a prayer group
  • Increase your giving financially to the church (take a step up the ladder)
  • Worship in other churches on vacation or out of town, and bring us a copy of the bulletin


R          Relating

  • Participate in activities within the church
  • Small groups for sharing like Koffee Klatch or men’s coffee & donuts
  • Visit people like shut ins or visit members in the hospital (become a part of the care team)
  • Become a host for the neighborhood clusters we are developing
  • Host a coffee & dessert or cookout sometime during the year


S          Sharing

  • Invite a friend to church or special event or concert or youth group
  • Read a book on sharing your faith
  • Take a class on sharing your faith or starting a conversation about spiritual things
  • Welcome new neighbors into your community and invite them to church
  • Sponsor an outreach project with seed money, paid advertising, Val-Pak coupons for the church
